Most of the problems apps were elderly games that I was not that concerned about.

I've been using the z22 for a few days plus have found it to be a great product for somebody not concerned with wireless, a large handheld display screen or extended memory. I've used palms for several years plus keep a lot of technical notes in the Palm memo app for use when I'm in remote locations doing process adminstration work. My previous palm was a III xe - it was trailing edge technology but very durable plus useful as long as I could find a synching machine that still had a serial connection.

The back cover seals tightly as an environmental protection measure, but it makes it difficult to access the battery, sim card, and flash card.

I think a major culprit to the 'slow and unresponsive' complaint is the 'haptic response.' This is a cool idea that has fallen a little behind in the implementation. The idea is that it runs the vibrator a little when you hit a key. Unfortunately, what it does is it hits the vibrator a little *after* you hit the key. This immediate feedback really makes any little lag hit home. If you turn this feature off, you probably won't notice the delay at all: it'll run just like any other of your Windows CE or Windows Mobile devices.

My wife saw an ad for this phone on a web site and we visited a store to check it out. I played around with it for 25 minutes in the store and decided that I had to have it. The build in web browser is far better than I expected and was used to. Pages render well and navigating them is far easier than most devices I have used. The full keyboard makes it easy to enter in search terms, addresses, and even full messages on forums.

Installing Opera Mini creates an excellent experiance as well. The only thing missing is flash support.

For java applications, it works perfect, although now I am finding that there are a ton of Symbian S60 apps available that run far better and far faster than java apps. Using instant messenger is super easy and combined with the multitasking ability, I can be chatting in IM and talking on the phone with my bluetooth headset at the same time.

Syncing my work e-mail with this phone was a snap. This was far better than what had to be done for blackberry (it costs extra if there are more than 1 blackberry phones in an organization and IT has to install server software!).

"The Xenon is about near to perfect as I have found for my needs in a cellphone. First off, I have tried the Dare, the Omnia, the Behold, the Zine, and the Nokia 5310. All of them had some neat things, but weren't for me. I had initially been attracted to the phones with the high MP cameras because I didn't want to have to carry a camera with me, but I found that a higher MP doesn't necessarily mean a better picture.

I also wanted something that could have music, which all these phones have, but some have the sd card inside. I wanted easy access. I wanted something that wasn't too small, which the Nokia seemed to be. I really liked it, otherwise, because it also had an FM radio. I was afraid I'd lose it, though. The Zine was okay, but I didn't like the keys. I really can't put my finger on why I didn't like the Behold.

The Omnia was a smartphone and with it came the higher phone bill. It just had too much on it for me. I don't think I liked the side pullout menu of these two Samsung phones. It was neat to pull the icons onto the main screen, but they could be very cluttered. The Dare was a cool phone, but it was lacking one very important thing for me and also had some problems with locking up or turning off at the wrong time. It lacked a place in the contacts where I could input a street address with the contacts. I liked the touch screen and camera, though. I have written a review on the Dare, so I won't go further.

On to the Xenon. I like the smaller size. I like that it has both a touchscreen and keyboard. The qwerty keyboard slide is comfortable to text on. The keys are fairly flat, but they still feel like separate keys. I have big hands and it is great to use. I appreciate the .com, @, and text related keys along with the quick access keys for email and IM. It has AIM, Windows Live, and Yahoo! Messenger. Although the keyboard is four rows, you must use the Fn key (blue) to access numbers and symbols. It wasn't difficult to use. The sliding action of the keyboard feels solid to me and not springy. The covers for the sd card and charger/headset port are a little different. It's best if you have a bit of fingernail to grip the indentation and then carefully pull on the cover piece because it has a plastic post for the little covers to swivel on. I found it a bit tricky at first. "

"Cellular companies are difficult in the US, this is a fact we all have to come to accept. So AT&T will probably not help you out if you have problems with this phone, or any other. Samsung, on the other hand is generally a pretty nice company to deal with. The Epix is an extremely well *designed* phone. It has an extremely fast processor, proven layout from the Blackjacks, and most importantly, it has the greatest thing ever put into a phone, a mouse. WinMo is an absolute beast to deal with, but with the addition of a mouse, it's a delight. However, you trade a real D-Pad for a mouse, which makes *most* games unplayable. The mouse can be used as a D-Pad, but it's awkward. If you think this will annoy you, it will, but you'll adapt quickly.

Now, let's get to the main competition: the Fuze. My wife has a Fuze. She loves it and I love my Epix. The Fuze is gorgeous, inside and out, in a way the Epix could never match up to. The TouchFlo thing is a delight to use, since it masks the shortcomings of windows mobile quite well. The Epix doesn't really attempt to, and don't expect it to. The Fuze has a massive army of modders who have made everything from turning the capacitive touch part of the phone into a scroller to making any shape or color of TouchFlo (My wife currently has the black TouchFlo from the HTC Diamond). The Epix has a small, loyal following of modders who are mostly focused on bug-fixing.

"The Samsung Behold to me is considered a high end PDA/Smart phone without the ability to edit office documents. The best thing about this phone is that it doesn't have Window Mobile 6.1. Every time I see the window MS logo on a cell phone I just want to run for the hills. Anyways, thank goodness this is strictly Samsung. This brand is known for churning out exquisite top notch phones.

This phone is a touch screen based phone with only 3 keys on the bottom. You get a gorgeous 3 inch screen with 262K Colors where the vibrant colors just really POP. You get access to emails, 3G, Web Browser, IM, Text, Multimedia Messaging, etc. The only thing is I felt the web browser was limited. You have a 3 inch screen and Samsung should really take advantage of it and have it take up the entire screen.

If you're on YouTube you get to watch the videos but even when in full screen mode it doesn't take up the whole screen. Of course nothing beats the iPhone's Safari Browser. I must admit the Google Android G1 phone on T-Mobile comes pretty close to being a flawless browser. Despite the touch screen I feel it didn't flow as fluid as the G1 and iPhone did but great nonetheless. I've only had the phone for 1 day. I will test it out more and revise my review. I think the haptic feedback makes me feel the phone isn't operating as responsive as it should because I really don't need the device to vibrant whenever I confirm a selection. The 3G browser just recently launched with T-Mobile so don't expect it be spectacular but it does operate just fine.

There's a 5.0 megapixel camera (About Time!) with built in FLASH. And it also functions as a camcorder. The device can accept up to 16GB on the micro SD. The back of the phone literally looks like a digital camera. I've also noticed that almost every Samsung phone on T-Mobile sound awfully LOW even when on the highest volume. But this phone turned up all the way sounds just fine.

I wouldn't recommend this phone to anyone who doesn't live in a major city because T-Mobile isn't known for impeccable & flawless reception unless you're in a major city. The quality of calls has always been good for me. And I really enjoy vCast videos. Just today I happily passed an hour watching popup videos while waiting for new tires to be put on my car at Costco. Even after that hour, only one bar of the battery was used, so that was pretty impressive.

I have pretty big fingers and I don't have any problems with the touch screen. The one thing I will say, though, is that typing in any boxes online is tough - think of the google box, or username/pw boxes. It's just really a fun finger dance that you have to have patience for.

It seems to have a fair amount of memory - right now I have about 170 pictures and a few videos stored, and it's not running low. Also, it's so easy to set up mobile internet, flickr, etc., so you can literally take a picture and upload it to your blog in a minute. That's very cool.

I'm looking forward to trying the new Samsung for my work phone this summer, but for now I'm still quite happy with the Dare for personal use."

"As the first phone to run on the US 3G network (and in some areas even faster 3.5 G), I was wondering how well this would work as a modem for my laptop for accessing the internet. Guess what? I'm using this regularly now to connect my macbook to the internet! I'm giving up my mobile aircard (which costs about $ 70 per month) and I'm just using my unlimited mobile internet. Another positive - no need to take out the usb aircard dongle and insert it into the side of the laptop each time I need to use it! The connection is fast enough to download video and music (you tube etc. will work fine both on the phone and the tethered mac) but the phone gets hot when it's used as a modem.

It also uses a lot of power so for long time use as a modem, I'd keep it plugged into the charger. Joikuspot is the software I used ($ 25 for a perpetual license) to tether my phone to the macbook so I can use internet. I'm happy that MS office comes built in. I'm able to import my financial worksheets (even big ones where I do financial modelling) and it still works fast. Fring works well on these phone - much better than on the Nokia N95. With Fring and my Skype call-out account, I can carry on telephone conversations with almost as much clarity as using my skype on the laptop.

In the N95 (which is also a great cellphone), the processor isn't fast enough to allow phone conversations - the voice quality is so degraded that it's barely understandable. Apparently, Nokia placed a very powerful processor in this machine. And since it has a fast processor, all the applications open almost instantly and my cousin, a Blackberry curve user was so impressed with the speed he said it's the next phone he'll get.

Another excellent software I like using with this phone is my Salling Clicker. I use it for remotely controlling itunes in my laptop (like when there's a party and I was to change albums or artists from my phone) or clicking to the next slide in my powerpoint presentation or fast forwarding my DVD player to the next chapter. "I'm fixing to trade my 2nd little KRZR in on a new phone. I'm gonna miss the KRZR... it's one of the coolest looking phones I've ever seen. My first KRZR I had was AWESOME, great sound, great camera, great apps, great everything. Then I dropped it in the pool. I had insurance so for $50 they sent me a new one... This one was a refurb and I could tell the side buttons didn't work that good, they were loose.

The only major problems I've had is that the buttons are cheap, along with the screen (both plastic that comes off very easily) also the speaker on mine just BOOM got quiet, now it's like volume 7 is volume 2. It's not just me either no one can hear on my KRZR anymore. I was up for an upgrade so I figured it's time to trade the poor little thing in. The bluetooth isn't the greatest... it sends pics, ringtones, blah blah but it's hard to find most other phones. It could just be shy or anti-social I don't know.

Mine has been through a lot of talking though I have about 2,000 hours on it. I talk all the time. I'm not sure if that's a lot of hours compared to the amount of wear and tear on it or not. The back plate of the phone (the battery cover) is peeling but I've never had it fall off. Battery life is pretty good. I don't text so keeping that in mind the keys are okay minus the cheap fact, but nothing that super glue can't fix.

The memory expanding is awesome, I didn't really need to buy a memory card because this phone has over 19,900 KB but I got it anyways and it's very handy. The camera is cool, it comes with some different editting options. You can set different ringtones for different people along with pics (of course).

"I have had this phone for about a little over a month and a half. On the contrary to what the previous reviewer from earlier today has said, I am twenty years old and actually need this phone. The phone is highly useful and fits my everyday needs. It has a calendar, widgets, Windows Mobile 6.1 which features MS Office (This is handy for me when my boss sends Excel files to us when we are out of the office)and plenty of other features that one can use and which I have used since I have taken it out of the box late February.

The data plan has nothing to do with the phone itself- which unfortunately, has left many leaving 1 star reviews on this site. In fact, I do believe that the data plan is necessary for a phone of this nature. Why? Because the phone is constantly sending and receiving data on the Verizon network. There are ways to change it. But with a phone that has Internet Explorer and Opera built in, why would you not want a Data Plan? Yes, it is capable of WiFi as well. However, WiFi is only limited to the places that have it. Verizon's broadband network has served me well in this month and a half and has been accessible where ever I go in Wisconsin.

The battery life isn't as great as the Nokias that I have used on my previous provider. However, I go about every other day charging my phone and killing processes in the task manager. I once surfed the web on mobile broadband for two hours and the phone did not need to be charged for about eight hours later. The Omnia is very useful and replaces my laptop in times when I do not want to carry a laptop around.

I have rated it 4 stars, because obviously the phone is not perfect. It replaces my music player with it's robust 8gb storage and microSD slot. It also has a replaceable battery which a rival phone (take a guess) does not. What set this phone apart from other phones is the fact that I can customize it to my likings with third party software. Magnificent. Best phone I've ever had, Excellent browsing, good battery life, and I absolutely adore the slide-out keyboard. Waiting for the next update to improve the slow camera speed and inability to save pictures from text messages; expected to arrive by the end of April, and the phone will be nearly perfect when that happens, imo.

Examine your needs - for me - it was a great fit As another reviewer put it: "Depending on the type of user you are, the G1 can be a dream-come-true device (Google-Services-dependent) or a disappointment (Media/Application-heavy user coming from iPhone); it just depends on what you need."

I was looking for a phone that was more of the original smartphone concept: I needed fast, efficient gmail access; over the air sync with Google Calendar; and a good web browser. Bonuses to me, were a decent application store, and solid built in apps, like google maps. This led me to compare the iPhone, the G1, and various blackberrys. Ultimately, I picked the G1 over the blackberrys because of it's superior gmail interface and more consumer oriented application store.

I went back and forth between the G1 and the iPhone for weeks, but am confident the G1 was a better choice. With the G1 I get: - Complete google services syncing - A keyboard and trackball - Cheaper monthly service fees than ATT's iPhone data+text plan - Superior notification system. On the G1 (unlike the iPhone) you can chose to acknowledge a reminder - and pick which reminder/email/text you want to look at (or not). With the iphone, you currently get a pop up to either look at it or ignore it.

It's a difficult interface to describe, but if you are someone that has 3 emails, a calendar reminder, an IM, and a text message all waiting on your phone, you may want some flexibility in choosing what you'll look at when, and only the G1 gives you that flexibility. I gave up: - A larger screen - Better applications. What can I say? The android market is good and it's only getting better, but the iPhone has more applications. - Better multimedia management. I don't listen to music on my phone - I have my iPod for that, and w/ 50 gb of music/moives on it, no phone currently can replace it.

I guess as a novelty I might listen to music every now and then or watch a movie on the train or something, but honestly, I loaded some music on my G1 and still have never listened to it. Bottom line, if multimedia is important to you and you like iTunes, get an iPhone. If you're more focussed on staying in touch and want a phone that offers a keyboard and a great interface that I believe Google will only continue to improve, I'd highly recommend the G1."

"I've wanted a BlackBerry since 2000, but couldn't give in to the temptation since there was no reason to NEED my email everywhere I went. I'm now constantly out of the house and about and a Facebook addict, so I decided it was time for me to get the Big Girl phone. The deal on the Refurb was unbeatable... I managed to sneak in when it was no money down, first payment I'll make will be my monthly plan and the activation. Phone has no physical flaws and it has worked great so far.

It froze a couple of times, but it's typically from 3rd party software or right after I've installed something. It's only been a week, but it's been on non stop as I can't stop "pimpin" it. TONS of programs out there to make this the best mobile friend you'll ever have... It's true, the battery is not fabulous, but travel and car chargers are SO cheap off ebay and 3rd-party sites that it's really not a concern unless you plan to be in a desert, in which case you can't use the phone anyway. It's got Wi-Fi so internet is way fast if you're where there's connection, then the whole 3G deal where there's not. Internet, email, keyboard for texting, ability to view chat as a conversation (vs. each text is it's own new screen...

I hated forgetting what the last person said or what I wrote to them two days ago), apps, large screen... Only real flaw I'm not liking is the camera. It's tough to take pictures, you need a really steady hand, and the quality is grainy. Don't dig the speaker phone volume, but that's what the headset is for... just have to remember to carry it around more often now."

Ordered two phones. One came with busted speaker. If you plug the charger in and it'll work for little bit and become dead after little bit. Called Amazon and reported it. Amazon shipped a replacement SIM card, WTF. Called again, this this they ship a new phone in 1 Day shipping. The phone has a lot of features, but I don't think touchscreen keyboards are good for phones as speed dial is not available.

As carriers have rolled out high-speed data services, so too have they introduced mobile content services that depend on higher data rates. Sprint and Verizon rely on the 3G EV-DO data service to deliver streaming video, real-time audio, fast web browsing, and downloadable music. AT&T and T-Mobile, meanwhile, run on alternative 2.5G EDGE and 3G UMTS networks, which are built using a different infrastructure than EV-DO but achieve the same basic objectives. (The UMTS network is faster than EDGE but isn't as widely available.) All the carriers eventually promise significant service upgrades with the launch of 4G data services, hopefully in 2008.

Almost all technological platforms face a conflict between innovation and control, and cell phones are certainly no exception. Cellular carriers argue that they need to preside over the hardware in order to provide better, more integrated services to customers, and many have indeed invested billions of dollars in comprehensive service networks.

Consumer advocates counter that innovation stems from choice, and that opening up the marketplace to broader competition will lead to a variety of new phone features, better communication between phones and related accessories, and a wider price range.

So will the restrictions supported by the major U.S. cellular carriers eventually start to unravel? It's arguably already happening, albeit in extremely small steps. Not only are unlocked phones easier to buy in the U.S. market than in the past, but unlocking services--the companies that unlock your carrier-provided GSM phone--are starting to appear in malls and other mainstream locations, a sure sign that demand is increasing.

In addition, international business travelers are returning to the United States with satisfied tales of using prepaid SIM cards in Europe and Asia, thus spreading the unlocked gospel bit by bit. If these and other consumers continue to demand more and better options, it's possible that cellular carriers eventually will open things up.

The most important thing to understand is which frequencies, or bands, the phone supports. GSM carriers in the United States, Canada, and many parts of Latin America rely on the 1900 and 850 bands for transmitting cellular phone calls and data.
